Hi from Banjo[edit]

Hi Spankart! How's it going? I've NEVER used one of these Wiki-thingies before but it's kinda fun contributing to articles, etc. This place seems a nice (and useful!) idea. By the way, since I have NO idea how to leave messages/chat on this thing, I'm assuming I've done this right by posting this here? Anyway, maybe you could even drop me an email sometime... you've got my addy, right? Oh and I've also written a LONG history of my trials and tribulations online as my 'user page', but was wondering if that sort of thing should go on my Wiki 'Banjo' biography too (perhaps in a 3rd person, edited form?). Cheers, --Banjo

Hi Banjo! Thanks, I'm fine, I'm really happy to see this wiki grow and become better and better with new contributors such as Mercy and you. Yes, using the user discussion pages is perfect for little chats and discussions such as this one. I don't have your e-mail address and I also don't really know your art because I have been boycotting Yahoo! for some years now and this includes Yahoo! groups. But I'm sure I'll see your works someday in other places.
I read your user page; this is definitely interesting information that should go to the Banjo article. But as you said, in 3rd person and maybe a bit different in style. You're doing very well as a first-time wiki user. Greetings to down under! --Spankart 22:27, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
Cool, mate! I'll work on my profile some more as soon as I get chance. I want to put some of the stuff on my Banjo page in, but I didn't for exactly that reason... but my frustration with Yahoo and other aspects made me want SOMEPLACE to "tell it how it is" (since I know a few folks who didn't know why I'd stopped creating stuff), and that 'User' page seemed perfect (since there I can be wonderfully biased, whereas the 'Banjo Bio' should not be! LOL! My email is [email protected] (not really secret, so I don't mind putting it here)... please drop me a line when you get chance, as I've some stuff I'd like to share with you! :) Cheers, --Banjo 03:02, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Image without copyrights[edit]

I have no idea how to answer you, so I tried this.

The pix come up if you search for n seconds with google images (in appropriate languages), n being a small number. I really don't know how I would check it if they are public or not (but they are certainly easy to obtain - in my language). How do I check if they are public? There are zillions of such pix.

[email protected]

This is the perfect way to answer me (either on your or on my user talk page). There's no need for your e-mail address; I'm not going to use it. I'll put my answer on your talk page so you'll be automatically notified about it. --Spankart 21:26, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Great Wiki[edit]

Great Wiki. If I only had more time in my hectic schedule, I'd do some editing. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Please spread the news about this wiki so we'll get more contributors soon, which is what we most urgently need. --Spankart 21:33, 14 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Cross-Chan site[edit]

Spankart? Could you please, please not link to my old site or use that old profile? I took the liberty of directing the link to my new site and writing a new profile. Cross-chan

Ah, so the deletion was the artist herself... nice to see you here! May I ask why? The Season Wonderland site has good contents both about the artist and her art and is freely accessible while an MSN group requires membership, so it is not really a replacement for readers of the article. People who are not registered on MSN can't access that MSN group. I'm willing to respect your request and leave the links to the Season Wonderland site removed if you wish so, but it would be nice if you could give a reason for the removal, preferrably on the talk page where it will be found by future editors of the page, so we won't have this discussion again when other editors re-add the link in this wiki.
What about the other information - may I at least partially restore the first sentence so that it is a sentence? E.g. "Cross Chan is a manga/anime artist who does spanking art, among other genres."? --Spankart 22:45, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
I think I can shine a little light onto this - It was Cross that deleted those pages, I seem to remember that it was the profile and pictures of her that Season Wonderland contained that she didn't like. She didn't used to have control over the webhost of that site - it belonged to another so she wanted no-one to see them. She was just embarrased by the comments they drew. Either way, the profile and offending pictures have since been removed from the site recently and I'm certain it's okay to relink there. I shall attempt to get confirmation from Cross but I'm certain it's okay now. I'll see if I can pry some more top-secret public information out of her for the wiki-page too. --RobM 12:55, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! --Spankart 17:40, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

I would like to create Category:People to hold articles like Artist, Author,Illustrator, Girl, Man, and the like. The existing categories Category:Artist, Category:author and the like would be subcats of this.

Agreed.
Done.

I would also like to create Category:Types of spanking to hold Disciplinary spanking, Erotic spanking, Sensation play, and the like, and perhaps Domestic discipline (although maybe that should go into Category:Relationships?)

Agreed. Put domestic discipline into Category:Relationships.
Done.

I will do neither of these until we settle whether category names are toi be plural or singualr in future. As I said on Category talk:Online sites there should be a standard -- im prefer the plural form, because a category is really a collection in my view, and also becasue as I understand it that is the usual form on Wikipedia, but I am not wedded to it.

Agreed. Let's use the plural for categories.
Good. I have converted several.

I think there should be a page like Spanking Art:Policies or perhaps Spanking Art:Naming conventions where this agreement (when we reach it) can be recorded and future such issues can be discussed.

I hope this seems sensible to you. -Mercy (talk) 18:51, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

It does! :-) I started Spanking Art:Conventions for such policies, naming conventions etc. We can continue discussing the individual conventions there.

Oh, on wikipedia, it is usual that an articel about the general subject of a category also be in that cagegory, e.g. Novel would be in Category:Novels -- mostly so that someone reading the main article will have a link to the related category. Do we want to do that here?

Yes, I think that's not bad. I already put List of spanking artists in Category:Artist, for example.

Currently about 15 of our 51 categories are in plural form, by the way. -Mercy (talk)

Thanks for all your work with the meta stuff, you're a good categorizer. I much appreciate your help in this! Frankly, I hate spending too much time on meta stuff which could be used for writing articles and doing web researches. Now I should move all categories to their plural forms, but I'm too lazy for such a boring job tonight... --Spankart 18:01, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
You are welcome. I will do at least some of this. -Mercy (talk) 20:25, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
I think all category names are now in plural form. -Mercy (talk) 21:06, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Great, thanks! --Spankart 22:27, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Unused cats[edit]

I think all the categories in Special:Unusedcategories have been repalced, and can safely be deleted. -Mercy (talk) 23:47, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

I've done so, thanks a lot for your work! --Spankart 21:16, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Author (?) wants blog listing removed[edit]

An annon has twice removed an entry from the list of spanking blogs. I have twioce reverted. I left a msg fro the annon on User talk:72.136.181.81. The annon claims to be the author of the blog, and says that she prefers not to be listed, Of course we don't *need* an authors permission to lsit a blog -- its existance is public information. But perhaps we don't want to list a blog agaisnt the wishes of the author? Also of course, there is no proof that the annon is in fact the blog author. Anyone can sayn that. But I don't particuarlly see why anyone would want to if it wasn't true. -Mercy (talk) 15:33, 4 April 2006 (UTC) Oh, on wikipedia, the policy generally is that if a person is well-known enough that an articel is appropriate, it is not removed even if the person so requests, and there have been several such requests, all turned down as far as I know. But this is a little different, i think. I'm not sure what to do here. -Mercy (talk) 15:35, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

This strongly reminds me of Cross Chan who also did a couple of deletions, then after these were reverted by me, came here saying she is the artist and wants a certain link removed from her article. As you said, it's difficult what to do in such a case; a wiki editor can't prove he or she is who he claims. It could just as well be someone else who wants to harm the artist/blogger by deleting their link. However I suggest we "assume good faith" and try to respect deletion requests like these for the time being, unless we have reason to believe the IP is not the webmaster/artist/author/site owner he claims to be. True, I agree that the Wikipedia policy is right for an encyclopedia and our wiki is also a kind of specialized encyclopedia. Still, spanking art is a bit of a "touchy" topic, so perhaps we'll want an adapted policy. I'll try to think of a policy that could work, but it won't be easy. --Spankart 21:16, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Well on identity, we could ask for an email from the publsihed email address of an artist/blogger, where there is one, or a note on the relevant web page -- that would prove identity pretty clearly. But I was already assuming that the person was who she said she was, the question being did we comply with such a request from a person who does not want her site mentioned or linked to on this wiki. Frankly i can't see why she feels that way, its not as if we are revealing anything that her public web site doesn't. But if she feels that way, fine, it isn't like this is a vital topic. If a realy important figute (say Eve of Shadow Lane) wanted no mention I might well feel differently, because that would leave a seerious hole in the relevant articles. but it isn't as if we have a complete list of spanking blogs or anything like one. So let it go. -Mercy (talk) 15:08, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I pretty much see it the same way. First, it contradicts to our mission statement. As I see it, in the long run, like any wiki-based open content encyclopedia, we can remove false or POV information, but we can't censor valid and NPOV information. Second, there is a significant technical problem. AFAICS, the only way to possibly do it without fighting constant edit wars would be to maintain a "wiki-internal list of information that is not to be published in the article namespace for whatever reasons". However such a list will need to be readable and therefore will be very likely to attract extra attention... so that approach won't help the cause much. I will keep thinking about it, because as an artist I can also see the other point of view (there is also information about me I wouldn't want to see published -- for example my real name, address and telephone number, just to give an example), but so far I see no practical solution that would work technically when it comes to information such as a site's URL that is a) already publicly available and b) can't be really considered "sensitive" information. --Spankart 20:54, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree with you on the question of principle. Obviously there is no way to ensure that information remaned deelted if any significant group of people were devoted to reinserting it, although reinsertign info against community consensus would probably be grounds to ban a specific ID or address -- it is on wikipedia. Wikipedia does hav a policy against disclosing personal information that is not already public in many cases, adn specifically agaisnt disclosing the personal info of contributors agaisnt their wishes. If a person puts up a public website, however, the fact that that site exists and the general nature of its contents are hardly private. But it may be that in this case the person somehow thought that whatever was implied by linking to her site from this specific wiki was undesireable -- perhaps she doesn't think of her blog as a form of spanking art, and found us only by googeling for links to her blog. In any case I removed the link. -Mercy (talk) 21:05, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Edit attribution[edit]

I see we are on MediaWiki ver 1.6 now. according to the documents, this includes "New maintenance script to reassign edits from one user to another". I am currently having a 'greatdeal of trouble staying logged in, often I find myself logged out when i complete an edit, even if I was logged in when I started it. Can you see if you can run this script,. to re-attributte edits to Mercy60a from User:205.210.232.62, please. i would very much appreciate it. 205.210.232.62 20:00, 10 April 2006 (UTC) (See! -Mercy (talk) 20:02, 10 April 2006 (UTC))

I'm also experiencing great technical problems since yesterday. I don't get logged out, but "save page" doesn't work much of the time. We can only hope Wikia will fix this soon. I don't know how this re-attribution script can be used, so I asked about it on [1]. --Spankart 20:12, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Gender combos.[edit]

Please see Category talk:Gender combinations. We can't have pages that start with a lower case letter, so there is no way to have an article (or category) on m/f as distinct from M/f using thsoe names. i suggest we move the existing articles and categorys to something like Combo M/f (with a redir from M/f) and we could then also have Combo m/f. But I won't do this until I hear your view on the matter. -Mercy (talk) 15:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Child Porn.[edit]

After looking over the most popular page listing a few days ago I was interested in what you thought about putting a slightly stonger statement about child porn on the front page. A disclaimer about the wiki's policy towards such things could go a long way in the right situation. There are good perverts and bad perverts and it only takes one of the latter to ruin the fun for the rest of us. I hate to say it, but for people interested in spanking this is always going to be an issue. Just wondering what you were thinking (Please don't ban me for bringing this up). Anonyq2005 13:00, 14 April 2006 (UTC)anonyq2005

Yes, it might be a good idea to add a sentence to the Main Page that clearly states that this wiki does not allow any porn, let alone child porn. I have done so. Feel free to edit the Main Page, Spanking Art:Legal terms and Spanking Art:Conventions to go into greater detail on this issue. In any case there is nothing illegal about non-sexual child spanking art, and non-pornographic child spanking art such as Image:Eros.png, as well as non-obscene pictures of child nudes such as Image:William-Adolphe Bouguereau The First Kiss 1873.jpg are not forbidden on this wiki. I also feel as an encyclopedia on spanking art we should emphasize (and provide information on) the distinction between such legal content and illegal child porn. So any additional information on child spanking art and current legal definitions of child pornography (such as laws by country/state, court decisions, etc.) is very welcome on pages such as the child pornography article. --Spankart 13:48, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree that we don't want anything that is legally obscene here, or that could reasonably be challanged as "child porn" under current laws. I frankly don't think that outside a legal context, there is a meaningful distinction between "porn" in general, and "erotica". I am sure that some people would condem some of the images we have on this wiki as "porn". I don't think that is a reason for rejecting such content here. As for the link cited above, I am sorry to hear that Mule has withdrawn his "young femdom" stories. While they were not particularly to my taste, they were well written IMO, and I am always sorry to hear that an artist has decided to self-censor, particularly on what seems to me like invalid grounds. See http://groups.google.com/group/alt.sex.spanking.moderated/msg/779c1f8e34a1878b where my friend Don Landhill argued agaisnt people who suggested that he stop posting child spanking stories. I strongly agree with his position as expressed in that post. -Mercy (talk) 15:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

timestamps[edit]

Soemthing weird is going on with article timestamps today -- i think that some of the wikia servers have their clocks off by several hours, possibly a timezone issue. Look at the history of Sassy Ladies -- the changes are listed as being several hours before the inital article creation. Also look at the recent changes page. Also look at the history of Spanking in computer and video games, the edits are shown out of order. -Mercy (talk) 00:08, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I too noticed all kind of timestamp problems since the MediaWiki upgrade - on some days it's okay, on others off. I suppose Wikia is aware of the problem and working on it. --Spankart 15:01, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

article with no content[edit]

Spanking in professional wrestling is currently just a list of links -- it has no other content. IMO content should be added or the art deleted. But I don't know anything about this subject, so i can't just add the content.

I added a stub definition and wikified it. I also wish the author will supply more on the subject, but I think we don't need to delete the stub, the group links are better than no content for those interested in the subject. --Spankart 15:06, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Fair use images[edit]

At present this wiki's terms of use exclude fair-use images (that is, images used under a claim of Fair use). I have the Logo of Sassy Ladies magazine. This is surely still in copyright, so it could only be used under fair use. Hiowever, the magazine has been out of print for roughly 10 years, and the cover logo would surely qualify as fair use if used to illustrate an article about the magazine. On the other hand, too many people use "fair use" and an excuse to upload copyrighted images that are not likely to qualify for fair use, and we don't have the resources that wikipedia has to patrol this issue. Do you want to open us up to limited acceptance of fair use images, or would you rather not go there? -Mercy (talk) 21:58, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Wikia allows fair use images (as long as they are used in a way that really qualifies for "fair use"), and I agree it would be nice to have some cover images for our spanking magazine articles. However I personally feel that allowing fair use content in a wiki does indeed invite copyright violations, and I like to have this wiki in particular on the perfectly legal side. This is why our Image use policy doesn't explicitly allow fair use so far. But I'm open to further discussion -- maybe we'd better continue this on Spanking Art talk:Image use policy. --Spankart 16:21, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Counter Broken?[edit]

Is the counter on the popular pages page broken? It hasn't changed in quite a while. Anonyq2005 13:27, 27 April 2006 (UTC)anonyq2005

Hmm, maybe it's really broken. Thanks for informing me. As of today, it begins with Main Page (12,953 views). I'll keep an eye on it and if it doesn't update, I'll ask the Wikia folks about it. --Spankart 16:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
All of the pages I have started are listed with zero views, and have been ever since I started checking "popular pages". It looks as if the counts were last updated some time not long before I first logged on. The last page with a non-zero count is Painter, which was created 10 August 2005. -Mercy (talk) 17:01, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
I just wrote an inquiry on [2]. --Spankart 17:11, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Our Usage Statistics (just discovered) also haven't been updated since October 2005. The new wikia statistics are up to date, though. --Spankart 17:35, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Those are very good. Do you know how often that page will be updated? -Mercy (talk) 17:37, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
No, sorry. But, BTW, I just found that our wiki is already #6 of all Wikia in terms of page requests, see [3]. (We are popular!) --Spankart 22:34, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
I changed the link. The one now pointed to seems to be updated once per day. -Mercy (talk) 16:45, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

broadcast[edit]

When you broadcast something, it has been broadcast. "broadcasted" is not a word. -Mercy (talk) 17:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Oops, yes, right. Thanks. --Spankart 22:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

thanks![edit]

hi spankart,

I just wanted to thank you for the great page you wrote about me. You are obviously a big fan to even know that much about me and my stories. I wanted to let you know that now that Don Landhill is back and my kids are getting a little older, I plan to try to write more stories. I am currently at work on a new twin story, which is actually another crossover story involving several of my characters, and a new Little One story.

Thanks again for the great article. sampast

Hi SamPast, good to see you here! Thanks a lot for your nice words - pleased you like your article, but actually it was User:Mercy60a who provided all that information and wrote 99% of the SamPast article, so I'll forward your praise to Mercy60a. Good to hear you are working on new stories! --Spankart 20:08, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Public domain comics[edit]

See my comments at Talk:Spanking in comics for more on this. In general the author's death date will not be relevant for classic cartoons and commics, unless first published outside the US, or by a non-US creator. -Mercy (talk) 17:05, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

incorrect page[edit]

Template PD-US seems to be a copy, created at an incorrect title, of Template:PD-US. It ought to be deleted. as you are the only administrator, you must do this. -Mercy (talk) 21:51, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Done. I think I'll set up a page for deletion requests later. --Spankart 17:34, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Do you think we should also set criteria for appointing additional admiistrators? -Mercy (talk) 20:58, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I think as a rule, the number of administrators in a wiki should not be higher than, say, 5% of the number of active participants; currently we have one admin for less than 10 active users. However I will go on vacation or be offline for other reasons from time to time, so to ensure that we can fight vandalism effectively in those periods too, we might already now appoint a second admin (or sysop, which seems the correct term in MediaWiki). Currently no doubt you, Mercy, would be the best candidate for that job if you're willing to take it. --Spankart 22:16, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes please. (On wikipedia the term sysop was used originally, but Admin has pretty much totally repalced it. I assumed the same was true of wikia.) I see your point about the ratio, but at the low end there should probably be a minimum absolute number higher than 1. I rather hoped this would be your response. -Mercy (talk) 23:07, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

To Start Our List of Banned IPs[edit]

I luv spankin9 came at some point in the last six hours and vandalized the Front Page. I restored it, but I recommend banning this IP from further editing. Anonyq2005 11:51, 10 May 2006 (UTC)anonyq2005

Perhaps we could also delete Image:Hitler.jpg which this user uploaded? -Mercy (talk) 15:12, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Done. I'll delete the image in a few days; Anonyq2005's "reminder" upload might be a good thing to leave there as a warning for a few days. --Spankart 17:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Image use policy[edit]

I posted some thoughts on the "fair use" issue at Spanking Art talk:Image use policy. Please take a look when you have a chance. -Mercy (talk) 18:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Proposed deletion policy[edit]

See User:Mercy60a/Proposed deletion policy

Thanks a lot, good job. I'll comment in a few days (and also on the fair use question). --Spankart 22:06, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, no rush. -Mercy (talk) 16:42, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Proposed blocking policy[edit]

See User:Mercy60a/Proposed blocking policy

Please Delete This Page - No Useful content[edit]

The page "sexual intercourse" had no useful content. It should be deleted or reworked.

Done, thanks. --Spankart 23:19, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Images[edit]

Hi, good to see things are still going well here :) There are a couple of images that I wanted to talk to you about - I think they may cross the line... both are on Bent-over position, and both look to me as though they could be replaced easily with something less explicit. There are two rather more arty but unused images at Image:Fembut.JPG and Image:Fembut2.jpg that you might want to clear up as well :) Thanks -- sannse (talk) 07:30, 28 July 2006 (UTC) (Wikia community team)

For what it's worth I agree. Anonyq2005 14:08, 28 July 2006 (UTC)anonyq2005
All four of these images lack source and license information and will be deleted in two or three days according to our Image use policy unless the uploader provides the missing information as requested. If the images were free I feel we could use them until we find better ones, but if they are copyright infingements we have to delete them. --Spankart 21:59, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Done. --Spankart 19:15, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Added a few things[edit]

Heyas, I added a few things to my own page and a few related pages I have a little knowlege on. I realise belatedly I should probably have checked the changes to other pages after posting them here for your scruitiny, but you can always roll back or edit if you feel they have limited value. I also have a new link to cross-chan's page. -- User:RobM

Hello RobM, nice to see you here! Thanks for your contributions and hope to see and read more from you.

How to Link?[edit]

We would like to add a link to this to all our spanking websites to help get more of the community involved in creating it, however a text link will just get lost among the myriad of banners, even if we put it in a prominant position. Do you have a banner we could use? Love, Northern Spanking

Banner-31x88.png
Hi! That's a good idea and a nice offer - thank you. At the moment we only have the small 31x88 pixel banner above. But I can make a bigger banner for you. Let me know what size in pixels would be best for you! --Spankart 18:14, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Great! Will use this one for the moment, but ideally something along the lines of 60 x 468 pixels will get more notice when you have time to design another! Love, Northern Spanking

Banner468x60.jpg
Here is a 468x60 pixel banner you can use! --Spankart 21:42, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism[edit]

hey Spankart,

this page Spanking in movies has been vandalized. Maybe it was just some guy trying to find out how this works here and he/she didn't use the sandbox. Can you revert the edits? By the way, is there a button or something that you can use to report vandalism. --Jack80 08:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Jack80, thanks. It's very easy to revert an edit, you can also do this yourself if you come across another vandalism. Just open the page's history, find the version you want to revert to (usually the 2nd from the top) and then click on edit and save without making any changes to the old version. Put "rv vandalism" or similar in the summary so it's easy to see you made a revert to an older version.
As an admin I have a "Rollback" button which makes reverts even easier.
I usually check the Recent changes every 2nd day or so and take any necessary action, but if you find something I missed just let me know here on this page. --Spankart 22:03, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I will. Thx for explaining. --Jack80 09:48, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Indexing Wikia[edit]

Forum, Jason

Redirect[edit]

the # command appears to require to be in all caps to work (in regards to brief page) -Roguebfl 22:24, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Not as far as I know... #redirect and #REDIRECT should both work, and in the history it seems the lower caps version worked fine. Maybe you had a cache problem with that page. --Spankart 22:33, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Encouraging new editors[edit]

Hi. I've been looking into the stats for various wikis and this one has the lowest percentage of page views from logged in users. 99% of the page views are from unregistered (or at least non-logged-in) people. Do you think there's a way you could try to encourage more participation in this wiki? Perhaps the Main Page could be clearer about how people can get involved. Having a prominent requested articles link might help too. You can add such links in the Sidebar or Sitenotice. I think a lot of potentially active users are visiting but not sticking around and it would be great to see that turn around. Angela talk 15:55, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Angela! That's interesting - I knew we are only about four active authors here at the moment, but I didn't know we had so many page views in relation to that. Where can I find the stats that show the page views?
I will try to find ways to encourage more participation - I think the main page could use a brushing up indeed. Thanks for drawing my attention to this. And by the way, while I have your attention, could you have a look at this issue I was bringing up in September? Jason wrote on October 3 that "you've talked to Google about it (...) This is pretty high on our list of priorities, so it will likely be done soon." Any news yet? --Spankart 22:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey Spankart, just so you know, I'm still around and I'm still doing promotion...seems like its working. Anonyq2005 02:44, 22 November 2006 (UTC)anonyq2005
Yes, thanks a lot, I do appreciate! --Spankart 18:31, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Greetings from Franco[edit]

Hi Spankart. It's Franco...

I'm not quite sure how this Wikki thing works. My user name is Corpun and I posted the thumbnails of my spanking drawings and did a little editing on "Franco". Hope you don't mind. I just wanted to respond the the messege about copyrights and assure you that it is me who posted my own work.

Greetings Spankart!

I just wanted to let you know that I posted some of my drawings as thumbnails in the Franco, boy spanking section as examples. My user name is corpun, but I wanted to assure you that it's me.

Wikia home page[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I've removed the link you added to Wikia's home page and started a discussion related to links on the home page. Angela talk 02:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Drag'n'Drop OTK Composer[edit]

Hi Spankart.I want to ask you to put the "Drag'n'Drop OTK Composer "in this site. Could you ?Please. --User:211.160.16.85

It might help if you could explain/link what it is --Roguebfl 03:28, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
@Roguebfl: see A Spanking New Art Genre. @211.160.16.85: That's not possible because it would require uploading HTML pages, which is not possible in a wiki. Do you have a website of your own? If so, e-mail me privately and I might send it to you as a ZIP file. --Spankart 18:51, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Spankart. My e-mail is [email protected],wish to your e-mail soon. Thanks.

I tried, but your address seems to be invalid. Send me an e-mail by clicking on the link "E-mail this user" in the section 'toolbox' to the left while viewing my user or user talk page (this page). --Spankart 17:21, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,Spankart.I have already send the email to you in the user "spank",hope to your email soon.Sorry,My true email is [email protected].

Thanks to you,Spankart.I have already receive your email. The zip file realy is so good.

FOREVER BAN[edit]

The user called Justgood is requesting to be banned from viewing this wiki forever. What's the harming of granting his request? I suggest you grant his request. He has comitted lots of vandalism.

It's technically not possible to ban a user from viewing a wiki. It is only possible to block a user from editing a wiki. User:Justgood was blocked from editing forever by Wikia's admin User:Angela after his massive vandalism. --Spankart 01:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Comic Reader[edit]

Hi,Spankart,in 2003 you drawed the "Comic Reader",do you still have it?If you still have it,Please put it in this site or email it to me.Thanks.

Yes, I still have it and could mail it to you, but how about giving something to the community in return? Such as making useful contributions here on this wiki, e.g. writing an article on spanking in China - or any other topic of your choice? I'm sure there must be topics where you could add contents by sharing some of your knowledge. Never mind if your English isn't perfect, that can be corrected easily. --Spankart 15:03, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,Spankart. In China, spanking is in private, and, spank the youngth(as boy and girl, not as man and woman)in the realy life is forbiden by the law here,so we can only talk it in the internet. However, this, isn't against the right of the people, this is for the right of the people. In this way,the people, espesially the youngth, been protected. But,in the books, newspapers, magazine, movies, television plays and internet sites, you can see the spanking sometimes as it's can't harm the people, espesially the youngth. How is spanking in the other world? Can you tell me ?

So there is no spanking of children in China, neither in the family nor at school? How about the past - was there a spanking tradition one or two generations back? How about modern consensual adult spanking - is spankophilia known in China, are there Chinese spanking clubs, spanking magazines, or spanking videos?
As to spanking in the western world, you can read about it here on this wiki and on Wikipedia and on many other websites such as World Corporal Punishment Research or Agony & Ecstasy. It's a very complex topic. There are countries where spanking children is illegal today and countries where nonabusive spanking by parents or teachers is legal. Often the situation was dramatically different just 100 or 50 years ago. If you have questions on a particular topic you find on this wiki, just use the discussion page of that article. By the way, please sign your comments with four tildes (~) at the end, like this: ~~~~. This creates a signature and time-stamp and makes following the discussion much easier. --Spankart 21:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,Spankart.Sorry,I don't know whether there was a spanking tradition one or two generations back or not. But,I can tell you that, there are't Chinese spanking clubs, spanking magazies and spanking videos. And,for the spankophilia,at least I am.the modern consensual adult spanking ,at least I don't see in my life. The answer to your first question is YES.

Please pardon my butting in, but what does "Comic Reader" mean? Is it something I should know about for the Spanking in Comics article? Ciao, Blackshade9 07:04, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Not really, it's hardly worth mentioning. It was just a web page that allowed you to view a comic page one panel at a time (a mouseclick would scroll to the next panel). It was just an exercise for me in JavaScript programming. --Spankart 18:47, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Question About Images[edit]

Hey Spankart, I uploaded some of my paintings and set up an artist page for myself under the name Q. I just wanted to be sure that I did the GNU liscensing properly. If I didn't then please let me know what corrections I need to make. Thanks. Anonyq2005 18:05, 8 March 2007 (UTC)anonyq2005

Whoa, I didn't know you were an artist too - great pics! The best and recommended way to add the GFDL license information is by typing {{GFDL}}. I just did it for your three ones. --Spankart 21:53, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Request For Drawings[edit]

Hi,Spankart.I want some art forms of father/son spankings in the "bare hand to bare bottom on the knee" style.Could you please tell me where can I get them ?Thank you.

Hi Spank. You could ask Franco about this, he often draws M/m spankings. You can contact him at User talk:Corpun. --Spankart 19:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi,Spankart. Franco didn't answer me,Could you please tell me what I should do?Thank you.

Franco didn't reply, but it seems he uploaded this image for you which matches your request. By the way, please sign your messages on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) to create a signature. --Spankart 08:24, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Central main page[edit]

Hi Spankart. Unfortunately, it seems the sexuality section on the main page is going to have to go again. The Ad agencies we are talking to are just not that brave, it seems. The link would probably have been moved with the new front page design anyway (that will link to categories rather than specific wikis) but I'm going to have to remove it early. Sorry about that. -- Sannse 07:39, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for informing me early. To be frank however, I fail to see the point of such an action: there are links to our wiki on many places, so what's the issue, concerning your Ad agencies, with another such link on the Central Wikia main page?) Shall we interpret it as attempts to censor sexuality related wikis (meaning not to list them in prominent places on Central Wikia)? --Spankart 17:22, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I don't really have good answers here. My own view is that sexuality should be on the main page, as a popular topic. But, we need to find a balance between what we as editors want, and what will work for those that pay the rent. I think it will always be a compromise, but I think we will find the right balance over time. Thanks for your understanding -- Sannse 21:28, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
I do understand that, the thing I don't understand is why the Central Wikia main page is of any importance to the Ad agencies at all. Their ads are displayed on every page on every wiki, including this wiki, so they make profit from every visitor that comes to this or any other Wikia wiki. Actually they should be interested in having links to popular wikis in prominent places where they will attract new visitors, because this means more page hits and more ads displayed. I mean, from a commercial POV, 'sex sells'. So the only possible explanation I can think of is that the Ad agencies Wikia does business with don't think along commercial lines but along (pseudo-Christian?) moral lines: they want Wikia to 'hide the fact' that Wikia hosts sexuality related wikis because they think these are bad for Wikia's reputation (and consequently, their own). They also seem to think people will associate them with those couple of wikis that are listed on the Central Wikia main page, rather than with all the wikis on which their ads are actually shown. I'm not questioning what you say, I just feel the Ad agencies' request to remove the sexuality section from the Wikia main page is quite odd and counteracts their own interests. Maybe you Wikia guys should tell them that sexuality-related wikis tend to attract many visitors and are therefore good for their business. --Spankart 10:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure if there is such a possibility. I asked about it here and will get back to you with an answer. Have you tried ticking "Remember my login on this computer" when logging in? --Spankart 17:16, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes I tick it just some times it simple does not rember Roguebfl 20:47, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
It seems the answer is no, at the moment we have no way to change the attribution of edits. --Spankart 15:31, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Spanking[edit]

Hi there. I'm a Malaysian and just visiting here out of curiosity. The only spanking I know is the spanking any naughty boy have, and it would no be wonderful as one tend not to repeat the same mistake again. I do read that pain release substance like endorphin, which may explain why people do go into spanking. Not me though... Yosri 13:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, okay-lah. ;-) Anyway thanks for being here. May I ask you some questions later when I'm writing the article on spanking in Malaysia, so I'll get the facts right? --Spankart 18:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

External Image Links[edit]

Hey Spankart, Blackshade here. I have a couple of questions for your consideration:

First; would it be technically possible to link up to an external image in such a way as to have it appear in an article (similar to the way we incorporate Youtube clips without actually uploading them to the site)?

Second; if this were possible, would it be a violation of our existing image policy?

Ciao, Blackshade9 00:30, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif

That's a very good question. Technically, image hotlinking is enabled (see the Google logo above). It works by typing just the image URL without any brackets (see above). Resizing the image is not possible. As to the legal question, I'm not sure. I have to ask the folks at Wikia. Since the images are technically not part of our wiki, our copyright policies (free license required) wouldn't apply and unfree, copyrighted material could be used, I think. However I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this. Image hotlinking is generally frowned upon as it constitutes bandwidth theft, and the site that hosts the image may not like the placement in our site. I, personally, wouldn't use it for the latter reason. --Spankart 11:20, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, I was thinking about hotlinking from images I've posted on my blog. As it gets practically no traffic at the moment, I'm assuming that the service provider wouldn't object to my displaying a few pictures here (and simply shut the blog down temporarily if it exceeded its bandwidth limitations). As always, I'll leave it up to your judgement, SA; and if worse comes to worse, I'll just go back to placing hyperlinks in the text.
Is it about images that you can't upload here because a) you can't put them under a free license as you are not the copyright holder, or b) you are the copyright holder but you don't want to release them under a free license for some reason? In the case of a) I feel we shouldn't allow it, in the case of b) it would be okay for me. --Spankart 15:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Spam Filter[edit]

The spam filter will not let me edit the free sites page. There needs to be a NPOV change made to Kevins roter Po and I would in general like to be able to edit. Is this page locked or something? Anonyq2005 21:47, 4 July 2007 (UTC)anonyq2005

I have the same trouble when I try to edit the article Kevin. The particular URL triggers the spam filter. I'll ask the folks at Wikia for help. Stay tuned. You should be able to edit other articles, there is no article locked at the moment. Spankart 22:35, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
I fixed it. www.freewebtown.com was in the spam blacklist. I added it to the spam whitelist and now you should be able to make the edit. Spankart 22:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Cool, that worked. Thanks. Anonyq2005 23:29, 4 July 2007 (UTC)anonyq2005

References[edit]

I've been reading and doing some minor editing of a few articles and I was thinking maybe it was time that we start encouraging people to add references. I know this is an uphill battle, but if we want to be credible information source I think at least trying to do some work along these lines is crucial. Anonyq2005 17:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)anonyq2005

Good idea, as long as we're talking about "encouraging" and not "requiring". Those of us who like to work scientifically may actually like to give their statements more credibility by adding references, if they have a quoteable reference available. I suggest we use the same technical method as Wikipedia, with the ref and the references tag[1] , cite web ref example: [2] Spankart 21:01, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
