Welcome![edit]

Welcome to the wiki Euticus! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   22:59, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you, Roguebfl. I think I'll need help indeed. :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Euticus (talkcontribs) 23:18, 7 November 2015‎ (UTC)
Well let's start with one convention. as talk pages are point of view we sign our messages, the simplest way to do so is just clicking the signature short cut at the top of the edit box, or you can type ~~~~ which will add your name and time automatically for you. And for replies we also typically indent the reply by starting the reply with the tab code of : —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   23:25, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, I think I figured out how to do it. :)--Euticus (talk) 23:31, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
Perfect 8) And here is a Cheatsheet on the major wiki code that might help you. as we use mediawiki the commands are much like Wikipedia if you're familiar with those. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   23:37, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
No, I never worked with Wikipedia. Thank you, I will learn this codes. Yet, while I will refrain from self-editing of articles. I am afraid to make too much mistakes. :) --Euticus (talk) 23:42, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
Please don't hesitated to make such article edit just for the fear of making a mistake we have members who knowledge of the subject is limited but are technically competent that's more than happy to fix mistakes of those that can actually provide information. That's what more important. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   23:54, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
Also there is the Sandbox page where you can edit just to try thing out. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   17:58, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

If you want to start a new topic you can strip the current indents. Now as an artist have a look over our information on copyrights and Spanking Art:Image use policy to see if you want to share your art here in a way you're happy with. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   23:54, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I have the intention to place here his drawings. Now I study rules of placement. In addition, according to the rules Spanking Art Wiki I'll have to rename all the pictures, and it will take time. --Euticus (talk) 00:10, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
While having the artist title the works is indeed a blessing, however I was more concerned that you understood the copyleft licence the wiki would require you to released them as. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   01:21, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Do not worry, this will not have problems. I have never objected to the use of my pictures someone else. --Euticus (talk) 01:28, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Good to know. After all we respect community artist that choose not to use free use licences but if you want more detials on CC-BY and CC-BY-SA there is a Russian language page for that here and if you want me to make RU port vertions of the licences notes I'm happy to make them 8) —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   01:47, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Welcome from me too, Euticus! I'm happy and proud we have you on board the Spanking Art wiki. :) I found your artwork (transcluded from BBB) very valuable, it perfectly illustrates many of the topics we have here. If you can upload some of it here in our wiki, it will be even better. --Spankart (talk) 17:31, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the warm welcome, Spankart. Now I'm deep in thought, trying to think of a name for his drawings. :) I never gave them names, preferring to let the audience themselves think what is happening. :)--Euticus (talk) 19:03, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Well, you can always name them like "Euticus_001.jpg" or "Euticus_20151108.jpg"... --Spankart (talk) 19:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
So, meaningful names such as Yourname-teddy-bear-spanked.jpg are not required? This greatly simplifies matters. :) And tell me more, should I put all pictures or only some of them? Can I post everything, but I'm afraid there will not be too many of them? --Euticus (talk) 20:10, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Well Euticus is 'yourname' so Euticus-bw001.jpg is more meaningful than just bw001.jpg at it least specified the artist in the count. Yes we would prefer to have even more meaning not just a number if it exists but we will not insist on that part. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   20:16, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
For many artists (e.g. Malteste) we only have image file names like these, as the works have no titles originally, so just the artist name and some kind of number is fine too. We have no hard space limits in the wiki, so if you mean, say, 20 or 40 images, it will be no problem -- it only takes your time because you would have to enter the image information several times. I suggest you upload only one or two images first, then Roguebfl and I check if all went well, and then you can use the existing image descriptions as templates for copy&paste. --Spankart (talk) 20:19, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Edit Error[edit]

Thank you. I'll practice before making any changes. By the way, yesterday I tried several times to make changes on the page "Euticus", but I somehow failed. Every time I click "Save page", the browser opens a blank page and the amendments were not saved.--Euticus (talk) 19:03, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

That sounds strange. What type and version of web browser do you use, and what operating system? --Spankart (talk) 19:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
I can not edit any of the pages Including this one. I use Windows 7 and Mozilla Firefox 38.0.5. So, I tried to make it through IE8, but also failed. --Euticus (talk) 20:39, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Ok that needs more explaining as you messages are showing up on this page which to us would mean you are editing this page. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   21:20, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Also Euticus and User:Euticus are different pages even if the wiki signature displays the second one as Euticus. as Euticus is the 'non point of view' article space page about you, where as User:Euticus is your personal point of view page. and the User page right night is blank —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   20:22, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
In Firefox opens a blank page. In the address bar address http://www.spankingart.org/index.php?title=User_talk:Euticus&action=submit. In IE page with the same address issues message HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. --Euticus (talk) 21:33, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
ahh action=submit tells us more. It shows up when you 'preview' an edit and should never by typed by you. You are saying that when you click "Show Preview" its Blank. or are you saying then when you "Save page" from the preview page" it showing up blank? —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   22:38, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
I tried both, with a preview and without it. White page appears when you click "Save Page" in both cases. --Euticus (talk) 19:54, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
I just made a test edit on Euticus. Can you please try to edit it again, remove the line "test edit..." there? --Spankart (talk) 22:50, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
No, Spankart, I still can not edit the page. --Euticus (talk) 19:55, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Okay, let us try another way: Can you try to edit User:Euticus/Euticus? (This is a "clone" of the article, in your own user namespace.) --Spankart (talk) 21:15, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
No, this page I also can not edit. The result is the same as before. --Euticus (talk) 21:23, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
But I, as it turned out, I can edit the individual parts of the page. Now I clicked on this page "edit" not common for the page, but that which is available on line ""Edit Error". And I succeeded. --Euticus (talk) 21:26, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Also, I can edit the description of my pictures downloaded if press not the general "Edit" button but "edit" button in the line Summary. --Euticus (talk) 21:32, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
So you can edit and save one section, e.g. using this link, but not a whole page e.g. using this link? --Spankart (talk) 21:37, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes exactly. --Euticus (talk) 21:59, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
I registered a new user and with that I can reproduce your problem. It must be something that happens to all new users and is probably connected to our recent MediaWiki upgrade. I'm sorry for your trouble, and I hope we find a solution to the problem soon! Meanwhile, a workaround for you that should work is to use this link to edit "section 0" of the article, which is the text before the first actual section on the page. --Spankart2 (talk) 22:55, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
No, this method did not work too. --Euticus (talk) 19:56, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Good news, I think we found a fix for you: can you please retry it? With your user rights set to "emailconfirmed", the issue should be gone now. --Spankart (talk) 23:26, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
No, unfortunately, the result did not change. When you click "save page" still opens a blank page. Results of changes not saved. --Euticus (talk) 19:56, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Strange things are happening here. Just now I am logged in as Spankart2, I edited a page such as Euticus, but the edit was actually done by the user Spankart -- who should be logged out. This could maybe be a side-effect of our host's caching, but I really don't understand it. Still my user Spankart2 was actually able to edit pages normally after it was set to "emailconfirmed". Sorry for all this trouble. I'll keep searching for a solution. --Spankart2 (talk) 17:45, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
Nothing wrong. Now I'll load drawings. Maybe later I'll use the opportunities that gives me edit the part of the page. I feel awkward that I'm causing you so much trouble. I'm afraid that I will bring you more problems than benefits. --Euticus (talk) 19:16, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
You are not causing us problems. You helped us by bring to light an issue that might be hindering new member of the wiki. This is important to us to understand so we can get it fixed. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   20:27, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Well, it seems, now I can not edit the page, even in parts. Or at least not all of the pages. --Euticus (talk) 18:40, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

I have a next idea: Could you try if purging the page, as described on Help:Purge, helps? --Spankart (talk) 18:56, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
I also just added, for the moment, a dummy section on top of the article Euticus which should make it possible for you to edit the first section via the section's edit link, if normal editing fails. --Spankart (talk) 19:03, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
No, I can not edit this section. Purge function is also not helped. While on this page I can edit this section (Edit Error). --Euticus (talk) 19:09, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
It's really a weird problem. I see that you could edit section 3, but you can not edit section 1. --Spankart (talk) 19:59, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Image Upload[edit]

Well, I will do so, I'll upload 2 images. --Euticus (talk) 20:38, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Ok File:Euticus col 069.jpg and File:Euticus bw 001.gif are great starts, I edited to include the source and added a category to them. The main issue is you didn't chose a copyleft licence for them that were listed in the drop list below the summery edit box on the up load page. Choosing one is very important. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   21:12, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Excuse me, may I look silly, but initially I did not find where to select the type of license. Now I understood and found this edit box. --Euticus (talk) 21:30, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
No problem. File:Euticus Spbw002.gif is better but you forgot to add the Euticus part to the file name (I fix that for you) and you don need to add == Summary == to it. It is automatically added when you select the copyleft licences —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   22:38, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the uploads! May I edit the English wording of your descriptions? --Spankart (talk) 22:46, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes of course. I would be very grateful to you for it. Unfortunately, my English is very bad. --Euticus (talk) 19:47, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Done! :) And I'll keep an eye on future uploads the same. --Spankart (talk) 23:36, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank Spankart, I'll be really grateful to you. --Euticus (talk) 20:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Your pen name[edit]

It's clear from your works you have a great interest in the role of corporal punishment in history. May I ask the meaning of your pen name Euticus? Is it a reference to Eutychus? And may I ask why your signature reads R and B in Gothic font -- I find no R or B in the name Euticus? --Spankart (talk) 23:03, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Oh, it's a long and complicated story. It's hard to explain it in an unfamiliar language. But I will try to briefly.
I can not say that I am interested in the history of corporal punishment. Rather, I am interested in history (regardless of the CP) and spanking (regardless of the history). But, of course, sometimes these two passions intersect. :)
My alias and logo appear separate from each other and largely random. When I first started to spread my drawings to the network, I even had no idea that they will enjoy such popularity. So I did not think about their future existence. I just wanted to somehow mark my account on imgsrc. So I took the first name came to mind. Then it was too late, too many people knew me as Euticus. :)
Both names are linked with forum role-playing games on the topic of spanking, in which I participated. These are the names of my characters. One game was on the theme of ancient Rome. Full name of my character - Lucius Claudius Euticus. Other - on the theme of Victorian Britain. There's my character's name was Richard Boynton.
Initially, I started to put on my new drawings initials RB as a signature. Then I did not spread drawings in the network, and only showed them to several friends. And then I create account on imgsrc and nickname Euticus. On my own internet-page, I never signed as the Euticus. And the fact that so many people know me under this name, it was a big surprise for me. :)

White page when trying to save an edit[edit]

Hello Euticus, last year you had reported this strange problem, which we unfortunately couldn't really get a handle on. Now User:PersianSpanker seems to be having the same problem. Do you still have the same problem or have you found out a solution that made it work (better) for you? --Spankart (talk) 19:57, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello Spankart. I was not trying to make new changes in the pages, I was limited to making changes in individual subsections, which was available to me. However, after your question, I tried to make a change in Euticus page and I did it. --Euticus (talk) 20:25, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! --Spankart (talk) 18:25, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Just an update we think we've found the bug and it was anti-spam related it was in the whitepages functionality for pages with external links, and our host has disable the issue and is keeping an eye out for the patch for it. So if you can see if the issue is solved for you, we would like to know if we need to keep looking. —  Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   01:59, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
I apologize for the delay in the response, I have not visited Spankingart for a long time. Yes, now I can edit topics. I will be grateful for any correction of my mistakes in English.--Euticus (talk) 21:12, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
