  • Issue 45: Tom offers himself as a slave to his love interest Toots for her birthday — and gives her a deserved birthday spanking in the end —. Spanking in Tom and Jerry cartoons occurred from time to time. Tom was usually the recipient of a spanking and Jerry was the one who administered them. Jerry would spank Tom at the end of the episode as punishment for what he had done. On one occasion, revenge was the reason for a severe spanking, as Tom was spanked by Topsy, a student he had given a spanking to earlier in the episode. The spanking that Tom received in the episode, The Unshrinkable Jerry Mouse was so severe, it left the audience wondering if Tom would ever fully recover or pursue chasing Jerry ever again.
