Question on quote[edit]

  • "currycomb tough hides" -- I know what a curry comb is in horse grooming (picture), but I can't figure out what is meant here. Were curry combs made of leather in the old days? Is "currycomb tough" an idiom for "as tough as a currycomb", i.e. extremely tough? Or does "currycomb hide" refer to some other thing which is like a kind of leather paddle? --Spankart (talk) 05:12, 17 April 2009 (BST)
