Spare the Rod

From Spanking Art
Spare the Rod

Spare the Rod is a non-fictional book by Jane & James Ritchie on the topic of corporal punishment of children, first published in 1981. The book discusses specifically the situation in New Zealand, takes a general anti-spanking position, and does not contain any images.

The title of the book is a reference to the traditional pro-spanking saying "Spare the rod and spoil the child".

There is also a 1961 British film called Spare the Rod about teachers dealing with unruly children at an impoverished school. This includes several caning scenes involving the striking the hand method.
