Welcome to the Spanking Art community portal!
Recommended: log in
It is not required but recommended to create a login for writing in this wiki (see the link in the very top right corner). For one thing, it is very useful for discussions as you can automatically sign and date your postings on the discussion pages by typing four tilde signs (like this: ~~~~). For another thing, it improves your anonymity as any edit you make will be credited to your login name (which can be a pseudonym, of course) and this will effectively hide your IP address. For any anonymous edits (i.e. when you're not logged in) the wiki software records your IP address instead of a user name. This IP address is then visible to anyone in the page's history, the wiki's Recent Changes, and on other pages.
Another reason for registering and logging in is that some special functions such as uploading images are only available to logged-in users.
This wiki does not have a large enough user base to justify its own chatroom.
We urgently need more people to become active participants in the Spanking Art wiki. The more people we are, the better this wiki will evolve. In addition, it will also make it easier for us to revert potential vandalism. Therefore, we should promote the wiki in places where it will come to the attention of potential contributors. Everyone is encouraged to help promote our site at the right places, such as forums, web groups, blogs, mailing lists, other wikis, and guestbooks. To make this promotion a bit more organized, we keep a log on Site promotion.
If you want to know which are the most popular articles in this wiki (in terms of page views), see Popular articles. Note that the page view counts are not accurate because they were deactivated by Wikia in autumn 2005 and reactivated after the move to our new host in February 2008.
Keeping a wiki nice and organized means a lot of "chores" in addition to adding and improving articles. The Special pages help us in this task. Here are some jobs you can do if you want to help (in order of importance):
- Special:Disambiguations (links to disambiguation pages, may be okay but are mostly unwanted)
- Special:Lonelypages (pages that no other page links to)
- Special:Uncategorizedimages (these are usually images without license information)
We also have a bot now that can help us with bigger jobs that can be automated, such as text replacement. It is named BareBot (LOL) and if you have a job request for BareBot, you can put it on User_talk:BareBot#Job_Requests.
Chores that require human intelligence where everyone is asked to help:
Here you can list wanted images.
- contemporary spanking art (by any artist, any style, any genre, any pairing) under a free license - Spankart
- picture (drawing, rendered or photo) of a person sitting on a stool, facing away (e.g. in corner time) - Spankart
- Main article: Spanking Art:MediaWiki
Articles and files in this wiki can be deleted according to our Article and image deletion policy, but this can only be done by administrators. If you want an article or a file to be deleted, please follow the instructions on Spanking Art:Admin requests.
The first two years had an average growth of 45 new articles per month. The mean article size, as of April 2007, is 1806 bytes.
New feature: Charts
We have a new feature today: charts! You can create your own charts with this. Examples:
See Spanking Art:Charts for more details.
Wiki publishing extension for Open Office
Sun Wiki Publisher is an extension for Open Office.
The Sun Wiki Publisher enables you to create Wiki articles on MediaWiki servers without having to know the syntax of the MediaWiki markup language. Publish your new and existing documents transparently with the Writer to a wiki page.
All important text attributes such as headings, hyperlinks, lists and simple tables are supported. Even images are supported as long as they have already been uploaded to the wiki site. An automatic upload of images is currently not supported.
It is the perfect extension for all users who want to make existing documentations and specifications available on MediaWiki servers. Just load the document and call the Extension with 'Send – MediaWiki Server'. A dialog will guide you to publish your document.
Requires StarOffice 8 (Update 10 or higher) or OpenOffice.org (2.4 or higher).
(Thanks to Roguebfl who found this possibly useful tool. So now people who find MediaWiki markup too hard to learn can convert their documents to the required format easily.)
The WikiLook add-on for Firefox
If you use the Firefox browser, try installing the WikiLook add-on. It is a useful add-on that allows you to look up any word or phrase by selecting it with the mouse, pressing Shift, Ctrl or Alt, and doing a right-click. By default shift+right-click searches in Wiktionary, ctrl+right-click searches in Wikipedia and alt+right-click searches in Uncyclopedia. Any of these three can be changed to search in the Spanking Art wiki instead.
Just install the add-on, then alt+right-click and click on the green button in the top right corner of the popup, which takes you to the configuration of the add-on. There, replace the search URL by http://spankingart.org/.
New Feature: Collapsing tables
New Feature: Wikitables Row Hover
Now when you set a table to use
class="wikitable" it will now highlight the row the mouse is over. -- 20:02, 24 April 2011 (BST)
We are now running 1.18.* and had a few extensions upgrades and installs. You will note we can now embed videos form Google Video and Daily Motion, the <poem> tag now works, and you can now click on the special characters on list at the bottom of the edit page to have them inserted into your edits. --23:52, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
