Song

A song is a composition of music and voice, or looking at it another way, "the act or art of singing," (though the term song is generally not used for large vocal forms such as opera and oratorio). A song is performed by one or more singers (a solo singer, a duet, trio, or larger ensemble) and may or may not be accompanied by musical instruments. A song has words which are called lyrics, and a melody (a linear succession of musical tones) which is also often called a tune. The lyrics of songs are typically of a poetic, rhyming nature.
