Male is a gender and the counterpart of female. The male has a physical stature that's typically larger than a female and a penis and testicles as sex organs located at the base of the belly.
Human males are called boys when they are children, and men when they have reached adulthood.
A common symbol used to represent the male gender is ♂ , a stylized representation of the shield and spear of the Roman god Mars. In spanking art, the common abbreviation for male (e.g. in pairings) is M.
