Lesbian
A lesbian is a woman who is romantically and sexually attracted only to other women. Lesbian love is known as lesbianism, and is the female form of homosexuality.
Women who are attracted to both women and men are more often referred to as bisexual. An individual's self-identification might not correspond with her behavior, and may be expressed with either, both, or neither of these words.
Lesbians in art[edit]
Lesbianism is popular not only among women. In fact, many heterosexual men like to see or fantasize about (watching) lesbian love.
Romantic lesbian manga and anime are called Shōjo-ai or Yuri.
Lesbians in BDSM and spanking art[edit]
In visual art, lesbianism can be hard to identify. While the F/F pairing is very common in BDSM and spanking art, not all F/F art is lesbian. Even obvious eroticism (e.g. nudity in both the top and the bottom, or in both the spanker and the spankee) is no sure sign. Only occasionally signs of lesbianism are clearly evident in such art, such as in a kiss.
In erotic literature, videos, comics, mangas and anime, lesbianism is clearer to identify.
