Jump to navigationJump to searchA kink is a sexual liking for something unusual (i.e. this liking is not shared by the majority of people). Kinks are also called paraphilia. Examples of kinks are:
The term kink comes with friendly, humorous and non-pejorative connotations, unlike words such as perversion or deviation.
There is also an adjective kinky that refers to unusual (paraphilic) sexual practices, tastes, material and items. A person can dress, for example, in "kinky" clothes.
A kinkster is a person who is into kinky subjects such as fetishism or BDSM.
Etymology[edit]
A kink, in its original meaning, is a sharp bend or twist in a rope that results in a permanent deformation. Kink can also refer to an eccentric idea.
