Gaston Smit (†) was a, presumably French, spanking artist who used the pseudonym Georges Topfer, and seldom the signatures G.T.S. and the pseudonym James Barclay.

He created black and white and colorized (watercolour) spanking drawings from the late 1910s to the mid-1930s. He was one of the finest and most prolific novel illustrators of the period of early 20th century French spanking literature. The majority of his work is from the 1920s. Any further biographical details are unknown.

Gaston Smit mainly drew adult/adult spankings and seldom children.
