E. D. was an author of French spanking novels in the late 19th century. There has been a lot of guessing what his full name was, spawning a number of variants (see below). It is also possible that there were two or more different authors using the initials E. D.

  • E. D. might be identical or different from the author Edmond Dumoulin (mentioned in Biblio Curiosa).
  • E. D. might be identical or different from the author Edward Dumoulin (sometimes given as the author of "Memoirs of a Russian Ballet Girl", a translation of E. D.'s Mémoires D'une Danseuse Russe).
  • E. D. might be identical or different from the author Ernest Dumoulin (mentioned in the catalog of Karl Ludwig Leonhardt's collection, a wrong name?).
  • E. D. might be identical or different from the author Émile Desjardins (mentioned in Biblio Curiosa).
  • E. D. might be identical or different from the author S.P.H. (whose novel Lesbia, maîtresse d'école was republished as Édouard Demarchin).

His books were often republished in the 20th century under different author's names such as Lydia Caring, Émile Desjardins, Bernard Setter and Eugène d' Ydeville.
