Maurice Renard

Alan Mac Clyde, also sometimes spelled Alan McClyde, was an author of erotic French BDSM and spanking novels in the 1920s and 1930s. He was possibly a pseudonym of Maurice Renard, a well-known French science fiction writer (1875 - 1939). Alan Mac Clyde is probably also identical to Edith Kindler, another pseudonym used by the author. The name (and its variations) was a popular pseudonym used by an unknown number of authors of pornographic novels in France.

He was published by Librairie Générale and Librairie Artistique et Édition parisienne réunies, imprints of Paul Brenet. Mac Clyde's novels were often illustrated by Carlo.

Alan Mac Clyde is listed in some directories as a spanking artist (e.g. here), however, they have probably mistaken the author's name for the illustrator.
